Dendrio: Building a generative brand system for a secured hybrid multi-cloud integrator

Summary

Dendrio, part of Bittnet Group, is a secured hybrid multi-cloud integrator in Romania. Its rebrand was designed not as a cosmetic refresh, but as a transformation into a generative identity system. At the heart of the new identity is the dendrite — a symbol of growth, connection, and communication. What once appeared as a static ornament inside the old logo became a dynamic, scalable visual system. The result is a flexible, rule-based brand language that communicates innovation, adaptability, and clarity across all environments.

The challenge

The old identity positioned the dendrite as a one-off detail inside the logo, replacing the “o” in “dendrio”. While distinctive, this treatment complicated the wordmark and trapped the dendrite in a decorative role, preventing it from functioning as a scalable brand asset. The challenge was to simplify the logo while liberating the dendrite into a flexible design system — one that could evolve, expand, and reinforce brand values across digital and physical touchpoints.

Research and insights

The dendrite is more than a shape — it is a metaphor for networks, growth, and connection. Research into generative branding systems emphasized the importance of creating modular, rule-driven elements that can scale without losing coherence. By moving the dendrite out of the logo and into a visual framework, it could embody the company’s core values of evolution, collaboration, and innovation, while also solving for visual consistency across applications.

Design approach

The wordmark was simplified by removing the dendrite from the “o,” strengthening readability and brand recognition. The dendrite itself was redefined as the driving force of the identity system.

Constructed using the union of circles and rectangles, dendrites follow a strict scale ratio of 1:2:4:8:16:32. They are always paired — one larger, one smaller — to symbolize connection, collaboration, and communication. This ensured that each application reinforced the brand’s narrative of partnership and growth.

The dendrites were designed to be both static and dynamic. In digital environments, they could be animated, layered, and evolved, turning the identity into a living, responsive system.

The dendrites system

The dendrite, the core symbol and driving force of the Dendrio brand, is evolving into a dynamic, animated element with various, versatile applications. Its primary role will be to enhance and reinforce a stronger, more fluent logo and to show evolution.

The creation process

The dendrites are created using the union effect between pairs of circles and rectangles. They all respect the 1:2:4:8:16:32 size proportions rule.

Application rules

To maintain balance and clarity, specific placement guidelines were defined:

  1. Opposite corner placement creates balance and anchors layouts (Fig. 13)
  2. They can be placed behind or in front of large headings, adding depth and visual emphasis (Fig. 14)
  3. Dendrites can appear near imagery to enhance its meaning (Fig. 15)
  4. Limited use is permitted behind the Dendrio logo, requiring marketing approval to avoid misuse (Fig. 16)

These rules ensured that dendrites supported the layout without overwhelming it, creating a structured but flexible system.

Color and contrast rules

The identity system established precise color interaction logic to ensure accessibility and harmony:

  1. Option 1 — Same color family:
When the dendrite is over a background of the same color but different shade/tint, the distance between shade/tint values must not exceed 20 if type is layered over the dendrite. Both dendrite and background must also maintain a contrast distance of 50 from the text color.

    Example: Dendrite: teal70 / Background: teal90 / Type: gray10 or white.

  2. Option 2 — Different color families:
When dendrites are placed over a background of a different color family, the difference between shade/tint values must be at least 30. If type overlaps the dendrite, both dendrite and background must still maintain a contrast difference of at least 50 from the text color.

    Example: Dendrite: red40 / Background: purple10 / Type: teal90.

These rules guaranteed that dendrites enhanced layouts without compromising legibility or brand consistency.

Visual impact

The new dendrite system transformed Dendrio’s identity from a static logo with a decorative detail into a living brand language. The simplified logo improved readability and recognition, while the dendrite system created endless possibilities for layouts, motion, and storytelling. By combining strict geometric construction with flexible application rules, the brand could express infinite evolution within controlled boundaries.

Impact

The rebrand elevated Dendrio’s presence in the technology sector, communicating innovation, adaptability, and partnership through a clear visual system. The dendrites became a signature element across campaigns, presentations, and digital experiences, enabling the brand to scale consistently while remaining dynamic. The update not only modernized the logo but also established a future-proof identity toolkit that reinforced the company’s role as a connector and innovator in hybrid cloud integration.
